He makes those comedy movies where people fall, fight, and laugh loudly. That is his style. This movie also has a big list of actors. Main hero is Varun Dhawan. Main heroine is Mrunal Thakur. She looks very cute and simple. Do not think this is only a love story. No no. This is a full family film.
There is loud comedy. There are big fight scenes. And there is so much noise. Like really a lot of noise. If you liked David Dhawan old films like Judwaa or Coolie No 1, then you will like this one also. But if you want a serious film with deep story, then please skip this. Not for you. Now I will tell you everything about this movie. I will tell you what is good. I will also tell you what is bad. No hiding.
The Full Story of the Movie (No Spoilers, Only Setup)
The story starts in a small city in Punjab. Varun Dhawan plays a boy called Jass. He is very happy and carefree. He does not like serious things. He wants to enjoy life. One day he meets a girl. She is Bani played by Mrunal Thakur. Bani is the opposite of Jass. She is very serious and wants a planned life. She has a clear idea about family, marriage, and children.
Jass falls in love with her fast. But there is a big problem. Bani does not want children at all. She tells Jass very clearly. Jass thinks love can change her mind. So they get married. After marriage, the fight starts. Jass wants a baby. Bani does not want a baby. The family gets involved. Then the story moves to London in the UK.

Second, Manish Paul. Manish Paul plays the friend. He has no fear. He says anything to anyone. His jokes about marriage and pregnancy are loud but they hit the mark. In the London part, he wears funny clothes and acts like a rich man. You will laugh at him, not with him. That is the point.
Third, the Family Vibe. This movie is not just about Jass and Bani. The whole family is involved. Rakesh Bedi as the grandfather is very sweet. He wants a grandson so badly. His scenes with Varun are warm. You feel like you are sitting in a Punjabi house. The food, the fights, the loud talk – it feels real.
Fourth, the London Setting. The movie moves to London in the second half. The big house, the parks, the cars – everything looks rich and clean. The cinematography is good. You will enjoy watching the beautiful locations.

What Does Not Work (The Bad Parts)

First, the Story is Very Weak. There is no real plot. The whole movie is just one fight about having a baby. Jass wants a baby. Bani does not want a baby. Then Jass pretends to not want a baby. Then Bani gets angry. Then the family comes. Then London. Then again the same fight. After some time, you feel bored. The movie is too long. It is almost 2 hours 40 minutes. They could have cut 30 minutes easily.
Second, Forced Comedy. David Dhawan comedy used to be natural in the 90s. Now it feels forced. In this movie, every joke is loud. Every joke has a big sound effect. Someone slips, there is a loud thud. Someone makes a face, there is a funny noise. After one hour, the noise gives you a headache. The jokes about pregnancy and body parts are also not very smart. Some people may find them cheap.
Third, Mrunal Thakur Role is Not Fully Written. Mrunal Thakur is a very good actress. She was amazing in Sita Ramam and Jersey. But here, her role is only to say "no" to a baby. She does not get a big scene where she explains her feelings. In the second half, she just cries and walks in slow motion. It is a waste of her talent.
Fourth, the Logic is Missing. Many things do not make sense. How does Jass go to London without a visa? Why does the whole family move to one house? How does Mouni Roy character suddenly fall in love with Jass? You cannot ask these questions. Just keep your brain outside the theater.
Fifth, the Climax is Too Easy. I will not spoil the ending. But I will say the problem is solved very easily. After two hours of fighting, the solution comes in two minutes. It feels rushed and cheap. You will say "bass, itna sa?" That is disappointing.
Technical Side of the Movie
Let me talk about the technical parts. The direction by David Dhawan is okay. He knows his audience. He gives them what they want – loud comedy, big stars, and happy ending. But he does not take any risk. Every scene looks like a scene from his old movies. The script is written by Farhad Samji. Farhad Samji is known for Housefull series. His dialogues are full of punchlines. Some punchlines work. Some fall flat. The editing is loose. Many scenes go on for too long. The background music is very loud. It tells you when to laugh and when to feel sad. That is annoying after some time.
The camera work is good. The London scenes look like a travel video. The colors are bright. The clothes are shiny. The production design is rich. You see big sets, big cars, and big houses. That part is enjoyable.

For me, this movie is a one-time watch on OTT. Wait for 8 weeks. It will come on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Watch it at home. You can skip the boring parts. You can make tea in between. That is the best way.
